What we Do
Our team develops and tests digital tools that promote language, mental health, physical activity, sleep quality, and more for children and families. We investigate both risks and benefits of technology use, developing strategies to protect against overuse, advertising, attention problems, and privacy issues.
Through accessible resource hubs, we share practical guidance for safe and effective digital engagement with researchers, parents, clinicians, and policymakers.
We also nurture early-career researchers through grants, workshops, and mentorship, and advise families, educators, industry, and policymakers with evidence-based recommendations for creating child-friendly digital environments.

Why we do what we do

Children’s interactions with digital technology are rapidly expanding, yet research into the benefits and risks is just beginning to emerge. Early digital experiences can shape health, behavior, learning, and emotional well-being throughout life. C-TeCH leads the way by grounding innovation in solid evidence, developing digital solutions that empower children and families rather than compromise them. With a strong commitment to equity and ethics, especially for underserved groups like children with disabilities, C-TeCH fosters inclusive online environments that prioritize health, safety, and well-being.
our Research
Researchers affiliated with the Center for Technology in Behavioral Health at the University of Florida focus on understanding how digital media and technology impact the health and wellbeing of adolescents and families. Their work explores topics such as social media use, exposure to alcohol-related media, cyber safety, and the challenges and opportunities technology brings to parenting.

C-TeCH Support
Our Partners
As federal and state laws begin to address issues like smartphone use in schools, digital privacy, and youth access to technology, C-TeCH provides evidence-informed expertise to help shape policy and practice, none of which would be possible without the generous support of our partners.
